Kleerband® Flange Band Protectors

Kleerband® Flange Band Protectors prevent foreign matter from lodging—and corrosion from building up—between flange faces. Flanges are among the most common trouble areas in cathodic protection systems and must be properly sealed against leakage while remaining electrically isolated to prevent stray currents, premature corrosion, and eventual metal failure.

Corrosion Costs More Than Just Money

APS Kleerband® Flange Band Protectors shield studs and gaskets on raised-face and ring-type joint flanges from atmospheric corrosion encountered in chemical plants, refineries, gas plants, offshore platforms, onshore oil fields, ships, paper mills, and underground pipelines.

The system prevents foreign matter from lodging between the flange faces and stops corrosion from bridging across the gap and creating an electrical short.

Stainless-steel and plastic models are available in a complete range of sizes. Kleerband® protectors are manufactured according to ANSI B16.5 dimensions through 24″. For flanges larger than 24″, the flange specifications and circumference should be provided. Technical assistance is available upon request.

Kleerband® Flange Band Protectors

Kleerband® provides a quick, simple, and effective method of protecting flanges against corrosion.

The protectors are manufactured from 100% virgin vinyl compound. Their transparent construction allows visual inspection of the flange surface without removing the protector.

Stainless Steel

For High-Temperature Applications

APS Stainless Steel Flange Band Protectors are manufactured from a 22-gauge band of 304 or 316 stainless steel and include a stainless-steel worm-gear strap and grease fitting.

An exclusive positive-loading relief vent and plug help ensure complete filling of the flange cavity and allow visual inspection without removing the protector. A 3/16″ closed-cell neoprene gasket provides a positive seal. Alternative gasket materials are available upon request.

APS Kleerband® Flange Protectors and Kleergel® Corrosion Inhibitor Grease are recommended for isolated flanges. Encapsulating the flange cavity and injecting corrosion-inhibitor grease helps the cathodic protection system provide years of reliable service.
